Andrea PRs her clean at 160 lbs. during the 2014 CF Games Masters Qualifier.

>> this superstar mom does it all.

Talk about an amazing performance.

Five open workouts in five weeks. Four intensive qualifier workouts in one long weekend. A year of training and tackling goats.

The sheer volume of what Andrea Young has accomplished is immeasurable.

On Monday, our star athlete (who’s 46 and often bests people in their 20s on daily workouts and local competitions) finished the CrossFit Games 2014 Qualifier for the top 200 masters athletes in the world.

She did not make the cut for the top 20 who advance to the Games, since Andrea was unable to complete Amanda, a highly technical workout that starts with muscle-ups. But that doesn’t diminish her jaw-dropping 2014 Games Open accomplishments: 6th in the world in her division; top female of all ages on Maui; and 8th female overall in Hawaii. (It was fun to see her arguably take the top overall score on the island for workout 14.3).

Phenomenal.

Sure, it’s easy to sit back and bemoan the variables. This is the first year that the top 20 masters were forced to do a qualifying event. Andrea started antibiotics due to illness the day that the qualifier began. She was completely fried due to helping her son, Cody, who, days before the qualifier, returned from Ecuador (he helped Team Hawaii win the International Surfing Association World Junior Championship). She didn’t have muscle-ups. She was super busy running her small business. The list of challenges gooes on.

The bottom line is: This woman has accomplished more than many will experience in their lifetimes, and she has achieved with grace, humility and integrity.

Year after year, Andrea has proven her athletic merit – but she’s not one to boast, criticize her opponents or relish in her feats. She is rooted in what’s important: her family, her children, her hard work ethic and her community. While juggling tough life stuff, she manages to consistently excel at one of the toughest, most uncomfortable sports on the planet.

Our friend Andrea also happens to have a rare genetic trifecta: strength, speed and stamina (normal humans have, like, one of these). She holds what it takes to qualify for the Games, and it’s just a matter of time before that goal is realized.

In the meantime, it’s important that we celebrate all she’s done so far – because her accomplishments are your accomplishments. Andrea raises the bar for everyone around her – our humble training partner pushes the times, sets the standards, increases the threshold within our community. The same goes for each of you who give it your all at CFUM. The stronger our community – the better each of us will become.

So thank you for all your hard work, Andrea. And mahalo also to her family, coaches and friends (inside and outside the gym) who rallied alongside her. This was a team effort, and a team milestone.

And to Andrea: You have and will continue to inspire us – but not just for what you’ve done.

For who you are.

We love you!

(Now let’s go to a spa and get a massage or something! Holy crap, those nine WODs were ridiculous!)
