>> members-only olympic-style lifting meet

As a culmination of our three-month Olympic weightlifting emphasis, we are holding a CFUM members unofficial meet Saturday in lieu of group 8 a.m. class. And if you’re a beginning lifter, the odds are in your favor.

Coaches and USAW team lifters will act as judges and plate changers. Each lifter will get three “judged” attempts on the snatch and the clean and jerk.

Here’s the catch: The male and female with the greatest PRs will win. So if you are a new lifter, you should be encouraged to participate. The meet will be based on an honor system: Participants will report their current records and their six weights to be attempted (three in snatch; three in C&J) before the meet starts. Please stay honest, as we trust you will.

Class starts promptly at 8 a.m. with a 5-minute, bodyweight metcon to get you warm. You’ll go through a guided stretch and Burgener warmup, then you’ll have approximately 20 minutes to warm up to your opening snatch. Just like an official meet, lifters will rotate based on weight increases. The clean and jerk will close out the meet.

We’re excited for your PRs come Saturday. We know they’re there. Hit the positions and you’ll make the lift. Singlets are encouraged, but not required. See you there!
