HAPPY BIRTHDAY, TIFF!

>> tiff is my very own mvp.

Tiff holds a special place in my heart. She and Renee played basketball for Seabury when I played for King Kekaulike; my teammates (many of whom work out at CFUM) and I looked up to them, not just because they were a year older but because they were really good (emphasis on “were”) (kidding).

Tiff is a natural athlete and is fierce on the court. She and Renee dominated the games; if I remember correctly, Seabury ranked at the top of the MIL during their time. I admit, my friends and I were slightly intimidated by the two powerhouses.

That’s why it’s so cool to be reunited at CFUM after all these years. I still see Tiff as an amazing athlete — her snatches and overhead squats are spot on; and all of her powerlifts carry some crazy totals. Her capacity for CrossFit is exciting to watch. She and Renee demonstrate the same drive I used to see on the court, all those years ago.

What some may not know is that Tiff is also one of the hardest workers imaginable. She toils crazy hours at Hawaiian Airlines, and she’s juggling hula, school and other activities with her two (very adorable) kids, Taylor and Ethan. On her downtime, she donates her expertise to teach me how to apply makeup. Apparently I missed that, like I missed many of my outside shots, in high school.

Tiff has a heart of gold — she’s someone I still strive to be like — in more ways than one.

Have an amazing birthday, my friend! If you come to class, everyone has to do burpees (only because it’s already part of the WOD).
