>> 2013 hana relay: legs for days.
This year’s Hana Relay was a hit. Our masters women had some of the best costumes in CFUM history; the men caught a ton of attention with their “Mullets on the Go;” and the ladies were smoking hot in Sweating to the ’80s gear.
The “Mother Cluckers” had a solid finish, landing second place in their division. One of the finalists for the “Spirit Award,” the team also received a prize from one of the race officials for their egg-cellent costumes.
The men came in 8th in their division. More importantly, they kept the relay exciting with their sweatband mullets, which garnered lots of reactions from the crowd. It was the first relay for Zack, Ben and Ryan; we’re stoked that everyone had a ridiculously fun time.
Reports came in that our ’80s ladies were put under arrest at the finish line. Patti was handcuffed and read her rights by an “officer.” She was later released into CFUM custody. Our women were smoking hot throughout the race — let by veteran relay runner Tiare. First-time runners included Courtney, Scarlet, Fabi, Chelsea, Patti and Cassidy. Great job, girls!
We’re super proud of our teams. As we know after years of participating in one of the biggest athletic events on Maui, it’s no joke for each runner to get through 9 miles of hills. More than the finish time, which includes unforeseen variables, the performance — making it through and not giving up — is what matters most. If your training isn’t fun anymore, it’s not worth the stress. Keep finding ways to enjoy exercise. Hana Relay is one of the best WODs on the island and you, my friends, are WODkillas.
Congrats to all 2013 CrossFit runners!
