Allen Duarte making Maui proud!

photo(677)Masters athlete Allen Duarte (50-54), a Maui Fire Department chief, is making Maui proud with his performance at the 2014 CrossFit Reebok Games. Al, who hails from Raw Fitness Maui, our former training home in Wailuku, came in first place in the handstand walk event on Tuesday, the first day of Masters competition. He is currently ranked middle of the pack going into day two, which is impressive after a grueling deadlift workout and a rope climb/running event Tuesday. Al is a coach at RFM, where he learned great technique through owners and coaches Robert and Kristi. As he began preparing for the games, he got individualized training from CrossFit Invictus and he would often work out with friend Jake Yasui at Waiside Gym & Fitness, along with sessions at RFM. Al ranked well in the CrossFit Games Open and the Masters Qualifying rounds; he received validation for his qualifying scores at Maui CrossFit Extreme. The fire chief is the second athlete and first male to qualify from Maui; our own coach Mary Swiger was the first from Maui to qualify and participate in the CrossFit Games. She also began at RFM. We love that Maui is rooting for our friend, Al! He’s already made us all so proud. Follow his progress live by clicking here: CrossFit Games Masters Events
