Due to large class sizes, CFUM is adding an evening session. Starting Monday, March 4, we will launch two NEW times — 4:30 and 5:30 p.m. (Some have asked if there will still be a 5 p.m. We chuckled a little and said, no, there will no longer be a 5 p.m. class). Rest Day / Make Up Day condensed schedule on Thursdays will move from 5 to 5:30 p.m. Other classes will not be altered. Please check the website daily for last-minute schedule changes.
CrossFitters of various ages and skill levels from around the world will be participating in the online qualifier for the 2013 Reebok CrossFit Games. We are encouraging EVERYONE from CFUM to participate — we’ve even threatened to create accounts for you if you don’t do it yourself.
Here’s what you need to know:
• Participation is only $20. That’s like four coffees from Starbucks. Or two plate lunches at Whole Foods.
• There will be FIVE workouts, and you get a whole week to do them. As a box, we will program each workout on FRIDAYS. So you’ll have to do them anyway. Why not sign up?
• The competition runs from March 6 to April 7.
• You get to do the WOD in the comfort of your own gym.
• You’ll increase your game drastically by striving to do something you’ve never done before, and you’ll be surprised by what you can accomplish.
• We will have coaches on-hand to help you scale or modify workouts. You only need one rep of a required movement in order to submit a score.

The CFUM Post-Holiday Paleo Challenge is coming to a close this Thursday. We’ve seen many of you make great progress. Remember, this effort is designed to illuminate healthier choices. And even though the challenge is ending, eating right has no start and end date. Paleo foods have a place in daily living; they are essential to performance, aesthetics and longevity; and more importantly, a good diet is the key to preventing major illnesses. Find out what approach work best for you and stick with a strategy. Great work so far, CFUM!
For the end of this challenge, here are the dates you need to know:
• RETESTING BENCHMARK WOD: We will retest “Running Jackie” on Wednesday. Use this time to compare against your initial time. Save the results to submit with your paleo information. If you miss Wednesday, you can make it up Thursday.
• LAST DAY OF CHALLENGE: Thursday, Feb. 28.
• DEADLINE TO SUBMIT RESULTS: You must email to crossfitupcountrymaui@gmail.com the following by MIDNIGHT FRIDAY:
– Final measurements of hips, waist and bust
– Final weight
– Running Jackie times for January and February WODs
– Photos of front, profile and back in same lighting and clothing as initial shots
• WINNERS: Paleo winners will be announced next week at a date TBD
