HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Then . . .

Now . . .

LEAN AND MEAN IN TWENTYTHIRTEEN

For most to see what we’ve seen, it takes years; we’ve gotten to experience milestones along with you in mere months.

Frank and I took over in April and with just 9 months under our belts, we’ve seen membership more than double. The demand is so high that we’re doubling our space Feb. 1. Most impressively, we’ve seen you snatch, deadlift, back squat, sprint, overhead squat, clean, jerk, pull, push, move, jump, throw and lunge as if you were seasoned athletes — because in actuality — you are.

You are seeing what we’ve always seen; reaching places you were destined to conquer; becoming who you already are. We couldn’t be more proud of the work you — CFUM members — have put into your fitness. If you’ve done this much in such a short time — it’s hard to imagine what’s attainable in 10 months, 12 months, 18 months, two years…

So get excited. There’s lots to come. Here’s a few things we can look forward to Upcountry:

• MOVING TO A NEW FACILITY WITH DOUBLE THE SPACE FEB. 1

• NEW EQUIPMENT

• POST-HOLIDAY PALEO CHALLENGE JAN. 15

• WARRIOR DASH ON OAHU IN FEBRUARY

• REEBOK CROSSFIT GAMES OPEN IN MARCH

• NEW T-SHIRTS AND DESIGNS IN SPRING

2012 MAHALOS

We can’t look forward without looking back. The people who have come alongside us, and supported our Upcountry group, have successfully contributed toward a healthier community. That community extends locally and beyond. We believe it impacts our world for the better. We can’t get everyone in here, given the time and space, but to all who’ve offered encouragement, we are grateful. Your kindness does not go unnoticed.

• The Whitney family: Our founders. You started a strong foundation; we honor a legacy of fitness by striving to daily live in integrity. We like to think that we are making you and Kaye proud.

• Mary Swiger: Our best friend, family, confidant, referee, business manager, chef, accountant, coach, therapist, wordsmith and superhero. We would not exist in business or in life without you. Words can’t express our gratitude. You inspire us to be better people. We love you. How do you put up with us? You are a saint (add that to list above). In all seriousness, it’s chicken- skin stuff to think that our CF journeys started together and have now evolved to this point. We are blessed to share this experience with you, and couldn’t ask for a better teammate.

• Robert and Kristi: Our coaches and friends at RFM. We can never take credit for what we’ve done without pointing to you. You’ve taught us, and graciously given us, amazing knowledge and insight. We are thankful for your selflessness, your grace, your insane strength and your awesome coaching. Thanks for always making us feel welcome and back home when we’re with you. (This goes for the rest of the RFM crew, too!).

• Sheila and Andrea: Our friends and foundation. Remember when we all started in the garage? Our bond is unbreakable. Thank you for your unwavering leadership, friendship and compassion.

• Coaches Jeff Tucker, Bryant Powers, Allen Velsaco, Kimo and Di: Owners and coaches at Hawaii, Seattle and Texas boxes. Your phone/text/email encouragement extends farther than you’d know. We still cling to your words of support, even when we don’t speak. Thanks for your votes of confidence, your suggestions and your soft-spoken advice.

• Coaches Allison and Jason: Our CFUM coaches. You jumped aboard without knowing what you’d be in for. Thanks for sticking with us. We couldn’t be more proud of your growth as coaches and athletes.

• Russ and Helena: Our friends and CFUM “board of directors.” Between you both, we’ve gotten a lot of support, and we go to you for some pivotal decisions. Thanks for believing in us, sweating with us and pushing us to be better athletes, coaches and friends.

• David and Yulie: Our friends. It still seems unfair that we should benefit from your words of wisdom, unconditional friendship and insightful business advice, along with your generous prize donations for CFUM contests. When we win the lottery, we will pay you back. Asian guilt.

• Anthony and Megan; Danny and Whit; Mark and Lee: Local box owners. Thanks for being so kind and supportive amid all the transitions. Lucky we live Maui. Our community is so tight.

• Angie, Claudie, Nova: OG CFUM. So glad we WODded together then and now. Thanks for sticking by us.

• Anders, Kiera, Kristina, Lisa W., Erin, Leah, Diane, Diana, Kim T.K., Peter, Mariah, Jermaine, Brock, Warren, Melissa, Andre, Kim A., Gabby, Renee, Tiff, Juli, David C., Holley, Sara, Lisa P., Snuggie and others: Our core. Seeing you daily and celebrating your achievements makes it all worth it. I still remember working out with Diane and Anders at 5 p.m. in April — just the three of us. Thanks to all for continuing to come back.
