>> Sweat to remember the sacrifice.

In observance of Veterans Day, a federal, state and county holiday, we will operate on a condensed schedule of 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. classes only. To recognize veterans, we will perform the following workout from WOD for Warriors.

WFW is a functional fitness tribute workout held each year on Veterans and Memorial Day. WOD for Warriors is a branch of Team Red, White and Blue, which uses all forms of exercise to help Veterans set and achieve goals, re-energize a sense of purpose, and form bonds with other community members to strenghten the Nation’s connection with our fighting forces.  A divide exists between military veterans and the civilian community. With the fighting force consisting of only 1% of the country’s population, that divide is growing. This fact is damaging to Veterans as they attempt to reconcile their lives as they exit the military, and face a population that many times does not understand their experience. Team RWB, and WOD for Warriors, aims to bridge that divide. For details, check out WFW.

About Armistice:

On the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month of 1918, an armistice, or temporary cessation of hostilities, was declared between the Allied nations and Germany in the First World War.  This Armistice Day was later renamed to Veterans Day.

At exactly 11 a.m., each November 11th, a color guard, made up of members from each of the military branches, renders honors to America’s war dead during a ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknowns in Arlington National Cemetery.

The 11 minutes of work and the 11-based rep scheme represents the rich history of Veteran’s Day.

The two-minutes of rest/reflection represents this moment of silence at the tomb of the unknowns.

The 1st round of work represents Veterans of wars past, and the 2nd round of work represents Veterans of present and future wars.

Modified versions of classic military exercises are meant to help connect Veterans and the greater community to connect after the accomplishment of shared hardship during this WOD.
