HAPPY BIRTHDAY, ANNA!

IMG_0469

Not to sound like a stalker, but I have a lot of photos of Anna. Um. That sounds weird. I have normal photos — like ones from the gym. Hey, you signed the photo waiver. You know what I mean. Anyway, choosing a photo for Anna was tough because there are so many good ones. I have one where she’s doing thrusters with the bar; now she’s snatching more than bodyweight. I have one in the old gym when I taught her how to do a one-armed handstand; now she’s doing that, but on a hard-to-balance kettlebell. I also have one where she’s squatting light weight; now she has the record board for the front squat and likely the back squat. The reason I chose the above photo, though, is because of that grin. Anna makes everyone around her happy. She has a contagious smile, and she loves to laugh. She’s extremely witty and her inside jokes are some of the best. I could go on and on about how she’s a naturally gifted athlete; how I nicknamed her prodigy after about a month of training with us (no pressure though lol); or how crazy her progress has been over the year. But what I also love about Anna is her humility, her ability to connect with people and her smile. It’s for the combination of amazing qualities that you always want to cheer for her. When Anna accomplishes something, you feel as if you’ve accomplished it also, just because she reps us so well no matter what she does. We love watching her unique journey unfold, in lifting, in CrossFit and in life. We are so proud of you, Banannzzz! Thanks for being  who you already are.

++ PS. We are working on updating our database to get alerts for birthdays, but currently we’re relying on old-school word of mouth. If you didn’t get a birthday post, it’s not because you’re unloved. We are super observant, we are invested in your fitness and we want to brag all about your progress. Heck, I love writing these profiles; as a journalist who is forced to write about exciting things like light bulbs and real estate (among other riveting topics), this stuff is a great joy. But we’re certainly not perfect. And I’m often forgetful (I blame it on my age. Can I do that yet?). Please always feel encouraged to let us know about your birthday. We want to make it as special as we can!
