Saturday, Aug. 9, 2014 – CLASSES RESUME

photo(690)

We cleared kilo plates, racks and other equipment from the Rainbow Room and additional gym sections. Beyond the massive bull mural that almost took off, we’re in good shape. Big Islanders, who suffered the largest blows from Iselle, are in our thoughts. Even though some local areas didn’t experience severe weather, we have seen reports of snapped trees, downed power lines and property damage around Maui (especially Upcountry, which news reports say was among the hardest hit areas of the Valley Isle) and even in Oahu. We’re grateful for our Upcountry community — please let us know how we can help if you’ve been impacted by the storm. Brett said Ulupalakua got slammed pretty hard and he spent most of Friday tackling trees with a chainsaw. Stay posted for any gym updates regarding Monday’s schedule. Unless conditions worsen, we will hold a normal class schedule.

KNOW ANYONE SUFFERING FROM FWP?

A good friend who works at a local fine dining restaurant said some customers were angry that the restaurant closed Thursday night due to the looming storm. God forbid they couldn’t get their fish for dinner. Meanwhile, the staff would’ve been put at risk if they went to work. Some reactions to storm closures make me think of this video.

IN CASE YOU CATCH A BREAK

Libby’s husband, Chris, is performing at Mulligans on the Blue in Wailea on Saturday night. A small group of us is trying to make it out there. Text Kehau if you catch a break from this bad weather and are interested in hanging out. Chris and Libby are one of the coolest couples we know. We’re sure it will be a good show!
